London Funders brings funders together to:

  • Share knowledge about social issues in London and keep up to date with social change
  • Increase understanding of current funding and policy trends.
  • Identify and encourage best practice in grant-making or investing to support and strengthen the voluntary and community sector
  • Get to know each other better and work intelligently together
  • Improve efficiency and increase leverage on investment
  • Promote innovation in funding
  • Be a channel for dialogue between funders and the third sector in London.

History
From an informal start in 1996, London Funders has brought together all kinds of funders concerned with London and the support of the voluntary and community sector working in the capital. Members have worked together with the support of The London Development Agency and London Councils. In 2005, London Funders registered as a charitable company (Company Registration No: 5596299, Charity Number 1116201) and now has a two person secretariat.

Membership of London Funders is open to every kind of funder providing grants, contracts, loans or other financial support to voluntary and community organisations working with London's communities and our cross-sector membership (boroughs, foundations, Lottery distributors and more) ensures constructive and lively activity.  Individual donors whose giving supports London are also welcome to join. There are currently around 90 members and their combined expenditure on a wide variety of voluntary action in London is approximately £600 million per annum.

Organisations which distribute funding in London but not as their main activity are welcome to apply for associate membership.

For more information on joining London Funders please visit the membership section of the site or contact our Membership and Communications Officer, Yvonne Schwartz on 020 7255 4488.
