London Funders Quarterly Meeting on Child Poverty & London Funders Project Groups

December Members Meeting - Equalities
The last London Funders members meeting for 2007 is being held on December 6th at The City Marketing Suite, Guildhall and will focus on Equalities, and the impact of the new Commission for Equalities and Human Rights (CEHR). There will also be a presentation from Jean Ellis, Charities Evaluation Services, on CES research into monitoring and evaluation in the third sector, including responses from funders. Olympic Project Group
The next Olympic Project Group will take place on 28th September 2007, 10am - 12noon at London Funders

London Funders Infrastructure Project Group
The next IFDPG meeting will take place on 11th October 2007, 10am - 12noon at London Funders. This group continues to act as a forum for information exchange between funders om voluntary sector infrastructure, including discussion of current policy issues and their implications for infrastructure services

Refugees and Asylum seekers in London: a new project group for London Funders
The first meeting of this new project group, open to all London Funders members, will be held on 23rd October, 10 am – 12noon at London Funders, and will be chaired by Rachel Billett from Comic Relief.
This first meeting will include a discussion with GLA staff undertaking the consultation on The Mayor’s Draft Strategy for Refugee Integration in London. The purpose of the group is to take an ongoing practical approach to sharing knowledge, identifying gaps, responding to new needs and proposing solutions to improve funding for the refugee and asylum seeker sector in London.

Effective & Efficient funding Project Group
The Next EEFPG group will take place on 9th November, 2-4 pm at London Funders with a Session on ‘Equality Matters’ led by Anne Flyn of The Big Lottery Fund.

London Funders Research & Evaluation Project Group
The next REPG will take place on 15th November 2007, 10am - 12noon at London Funders and will include an update from Jean Ellis, Charities Evaluation Service, on her research into monitoring and evaluation in the third sector and survey of funders.

London Councils Conference: Building strong local communities: delivering community cohesion in London

The conference takes place against a backdrop of a national debate about identity, integration and the increasing diversity of our communities examining how London councils and their voluntary sector partners can help build strong, cohesive communities across the capital. It is aimed at elected members, senior borough officers and decision makers from public, commercial and voluntary sector organisations.

ESRC/NCVO Public Policy Seminar 'Human Rights, a Tool for Change'
Wednesday 31st October 2007 -NCVO, Regent's Wharf, 8 All Saints Street, London, N1 9RL
This seminar organised by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) will explore how individuals can use the Human Rights Act to secure improvements in services and how public authorities are using a human rights approach to achieve change.
It will be led by two leading figures in the field; Stuart Weir, Director, Democratic Audit at the Human Rights Centre & Visiting Professor, Government Department, University of Essex and Katie Ghose, Director of the Institute for Human Rights.
Stuart Etherington, Chief Executive, NCVO will chair and Belinda Pratten, Senior Policy Officer, NCVO will provide a policy response followed by a questions and answers session to continue the discussion. A briefing of the latest research will also be published to accompany the seminar.

Croydon's Beacon Open Day - Increasing VCS Delivery of Public Services

Bassac workshop on ChangeCheck
27th November 2007 - London Resource Centre, North London
Bassac is running a workshop to introduce the new ‘ChangeCheck’ approach. Developed as part of bassac’s Community Impact Programme, ChangeCheck is designed especially for community-based multi-purpose organisations and centres or community anchors.
Using ChangeCheck can help:
- assess the impact the organisation is having – or not having – on local issues and the local community
- show funders and key agencies what the organisation is doing and how it is changing lives
- promote the organisation and the work it is doing
The workshop provides practical guidelines on how to assess impact using this and other means, including information on survey methods and how to present and use the findings. You will be provided with a free copy of the ChangeCheck handbook and access to a range of resources and tools.
