Following the publication of the EHRC review of disability inequality Being disabled in Britain: a journey less equal which found that “disabled people are facing more barriers and falling further behind”, you are invited to a roundtable event for funders to explore the significant challenges and issues people with disabilities are facing. The event will focus on how to improve our awareness and understanding, as funders, of disability equality issues and the role and contribution of deaf and disabled people’s organisations in tackling exclusion and discrimination, strengthening the voice of people with disabilities themselves in campaigning for change, and finding solutions to the challenges they face.
At the meeting there will be a presentation from Tracey Lazard, CEO of Inclusion London, which will include an overview of the issues facing deaf and disabled people, a strategy for how disabled-led organisations can be strengthened in London (which will also be relevant in other areas of the country), and recommendations on how funders could improve their practice.
A complete agenda will be available soon, and if you would like to book yourself onto this session please email Geraldine
